Hey everyone!

I know it has been some time since I have written anything on my blog so here goes.

What have I been up too? Well trying to incorporate some more multimedia solutions to Agess Rings. Currently I am working with life TV feeds from Justin TV to provide a “Repair/creation” cam. So far so good, just working out some of the finer details regarding transmission quality. It seems to be difficult to get a nice macro shot on Justin TV. We will figure it out!

I plan of having this available to see of o my website @ www.agessrings.com

Secondly, I am “STILL” working on project kits. I will launch these with my first video cast coming later this year. What I can tell you is that the first kit will be a European 4-1 Bracelet kit. This kit will be VERY reasonable to purchase with a Video instructions. Currently I am working on how to distribute the video online. We will see

Thanks for being patient with me as I work through some orders and the rest of this stuff. The roadblocks also include a busted laptop! Son of a ….

Jesse

Working my little Photo shop skills to the bone, I have finally finished the first of many to come Agess Rings tutorials.

These tutorials will give the end user basic (some times advanced) instructions on how to create their own chain maille! For every tutorial published there will be a kit for sale at www.agessrings.com/store shortly. I am still finding out ways to package it and make sure you have enough rings to complete 2 projects*(2 clasps, enough rings to make two 8 inch bracelets)

This is a new avenue for me and I really hope you enjoy what I have to offer you. REMEMBER to download the latest podcast to find out what tools you will need to complete these!

Jesse.

PS, please vote to the right on what way you would find best for you to learn from.

What you are looking at is the beginnings of a first for Agess Rings. This my friends is the start of a chain maille coif.

Many people are confused about what exactly a “coif” is. Some think it’s a type of hairdo, while others think it’s a sound you make in the back of your throat when you are a tad bit, flemmy? A coif is a type of close fitting hat. In medieval times this was usually some kind of armor worn underneath a hood or helm. Generally this was made out of steel.

This one I am working on is not. It is a light weight hood designed for a L.A.R.P. (Live Action Role Playing) player. This lightweight hood will serve him perfectly! Let me explain.

L.A.R.P’ers are the ones you see swinging the softer weapons. IE: Foam wrapped in duct tape. This aluminum armor will withstand MANY blows from a foam sword and still look as good as new. Now, from a real sword? No chance this guy is living to see dinner. In saying that, IF I were to make the exact same piece out of steel, oh yeah, this guy has a chance to withstand a slicing blow from a sword. Today’s world unfortunately, is a bullet. No chance even if it was steel.

Well, I hope you stay tuned and follow me along as I attempt to dive in head first into this ancient art of armor making. Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter and on Facebook for updated pictures on how this is coming along. Go to www.agessrings.com and click under the contact link.

DSCF3572

Kings Maille, fit for a king.

Pretty bulky for armor but, yet (some) Kings did wear this. I am assuming in attempt to show that he had more then the usual knights ring count? What I mean by that is Kings maille is made from the same “Typical” weave of the typical (used that word again) knights garb.

The pattern that was used the most for armor was the European 4-1 weave. The idea behind Kings Maille is that of doubling every ring used. Some would argue that is for show any not too practical. Doubling the rings (remember, they were Iron/Steel back then!) means doubling the weight. On the other side of the argument would be that the King was the most sought after target in a battle and he needed double the armor?

What ever the reason was does not matter for today’s application of the Kings Maille weave. Mr. Chris Pitirri sure found a great application for it. A Bronze Kings Maille bracelet for himself. I do agree with Chris on this for sure. It will make a great bracelet! Make sure you watch my Twitter feed for updates on its progress.

Well, thats my ramblings of the Kings Maille bracelet.

Jesse
